To submit, either fill out our Google form here OR email firstname.lastname@example.org. Our publication is released quarterly (January, April, July, and October) so please make sure that you are aware of our deadlines. Our current deadline for our next issue is January 1st, 2023.
The subject line of the email should be “Category - Your Name” (ex. "Poetry - John Doe"). In the email, please provide a brief biography in the third person. Submissions should reflect the mission of The Compass Literary Magazine. You are highly encouraged to view our mission statement and values featured on our About page. If you are rejected, please wait until the next issue's submission period before submitting again.
Written Submission Guidelines:
Should be attached as a .doc or .docx: Times New Roman, 12-pt.
We accept up to 3 poems (each should be a separate file) per submission, and a 2,500-word limit for prose submissions. Prose may include short stories or creative nonfiction.
Do not include your name in the document. The pieces are edited blind.
Please title documents as follows: "Category - Title" (ex. Poetry - illumination).
Please include a title for each piece.
We allow simultaneous submissions and also accept previously published work unless it violates the guidelines of a previous publisher. However, please let us know promptly if any work from a simultaneous submission is also accepted elsewhere.
We do not tolerate work that contains discriminatory content; such pieces will be automatically rejected. Pieces must fit the theme of culture and may not contain any explicit sexual or violent content.
